What is it?
Cocaine or coke is a white powder that is extracted from the leaves of the coca plant. The most common way using cocaine is snorting. The cocaine will be laid out in a 'line' and snorted through the nose directly or by means of small tube. Sometimes, cocaine is mixed with tobacco and smoked. It is risky to inject cocaine. Before cocaine can be injected, it should be dissolved in water and injected intravenously.

What are the effects of cocaine use?
Cocaine makes you feel cheerful and euphoric for a short time. You feel like you have all the energy in the world. However, you will only feel like that for a very short time. The euphoria will disappear and can change into fatigue and depression. Detoxification symptoms will appear with regular use. If you have used cocaine for a long period of time, you are no longer able to feel happy without it. Regular and excessive users can change into unpleasant people: cool, arrogant and selfish. Moreover, they are often irritable, annoyed and restless.

Cocaine use can lead to excessive exhaustion and depression. You no longer know your boundaries and you wear yourself out completely. Cocaine use can also cause weight loss. Due to lack of appetite, your physical condition will deteriorate. Snorting can cause inflammation of the nasal membrame. Cocaine use will affect your cardiovascular system. People have died of myocardial infarcts or other conditions due to cocaine use.

Crack
Crack is processed cocaine which can be smoked. Crack has immediate effects and makes you feel euphoric. This feeling quickly disappears, however. Users will soon feel depressed and listless - feelings that can last for a long period of time. Users will soon crave for a new dose.
