![]() De Hoop and detentionYou are being detained in prison. You are probably already looking forward to your release. To the time when you can go wherever you want to go. But will you really be free? If you are addicted to drugs, alcohol, medicines or gambling, you are never free. You might also be stuck in relational problems, dealing with loss or identity issues.Admission during detention De Hoop offers detainees the opportunity to be admitted during detention. This is possible through suspension of the pre-trial detention or through article 43 paragraph 3 of the Netherlands Prisons Act. This enables detainees to follow treatment during half of their detention period - with a maximum of six months. This will be during the final period of detention. This way, clients do not have to go back to prison after having finished treatment. Motivation You have to discuss the exact possibilities for you and the conditions you have to meet with your lawyer or a social worker from the Dutch Alcohol & Drugs Consultation Agency or the remand prison. You need to be motivated and be able to clearly indicate your wish to live a life free from addiction. Admission at De Hoop is not a way to comfortably get through detention. De Hoop is a place where you can and need to break with addiction, a place where you can learn to live again. |
