Hashish

What is it?
Hashish (stuff) is extracted from the hemp plant, which is also called cannabis sativa. Hashish is the resin of the hemp plant that is pressed in chunks and cut into little parts for sale. A chunk of hashish looks a little bit like a beef cube with a beige to black color. Hashish is usually smoked, which is called blowing. Hashish is sometimes also used in baking products, for example, a space cake.

What are the consequences of using hashish?
Blowing generally enhances the user's mood. So, when someone is in a good mood, he will become even more cheerful and can burst out laughing randomly (fit of laughter). Hashish users want to become relaxed and experience intense sensual perceptions. If you use hashish, you become stoned. Your eyes become red, your heartbeat increases and your legs feel 'heavy'. Your resistance deteriorates as does your memory. You also run a larger risk of psychiatric conditions.

Physical dependence
The higher the percentage of THC (main active ingredient) in hashish, the more intense are its effects on your mind and body. The more frequent your use, the higher is the risk of physical habituation, i.e. if you stop blowing, you experience detoxification symptoms.

Psychological dependence
You can also become psychologically dependent on hashish. It seems like you can forget your problems. You run the risk of only being able to deal with your problems by blowing. Someone who has a really low self-esteem and is anxious can become paranoid due to blowing. Sadness can change into depression. Smoking hashish is very toxic to the lungs.
