About De Hoop

Basic program

De Hoop's basic program has a duration of eight weeks. The program is suitable for men and women aged 18 and over that have substance abuse problems. Treatment consists of 24-hour care. After finishing the basic program, clients move on to an in-depth treatment program at one of our clinics.

Please note that the basic program is an integral part of a clinical treatment program. The basic program cannot be followed separately. Admission to just our basic program is therefore impossible.

Aim
The basic program's aim is breaking with addiction. During the basic program, clients will follow therapy and participate in training sessions. They will also be advised on further treatment and social and/or vocational rehabilitation.

Contents
Our basic program ‘Breaking with Addiction' consists of the following components:

  • Addiction education - 2 weeks, information about addiction (substances, addiction), personal analysis of addictive behavior, relapse prevention, ‘quit smoking' course
  • Self management - 1 weeks, self care, hygiene and diet, administration
  • Personal skills - 3 weeks, education (character building), personal research (learning styles, life story, personal spiritual life, family background, upbringing, social relations, strengths/weaknesses analysis)
  • Social skills - 2 weeks, education (social interaction, work), social skills training (practicing and experiencing - practice, role plays)

Applying for treatment
The basic program is part of a 24-hour program with a duration of 44-56 weeks. Clients may apply for the entire program at De Hoop's outpatient clinic:

Items to bring along
Before admission, clients will receive a letter mentioning the things they need to bring along for their stay at De Hoop. Most important are items necessary for daily care as well as clothes.

What else is asked of clients?

  • Motivation

  • Intake at De Hoop

    People who wish to follow treatment or counseling at De Hoop have to call the central intake office at the outpatients' clinic themselves.

  • Crosspoint motivation center

    Crosspoint is De Hoop's motivation center for people who are addicted and want to become motivated to follow treatment.

  • Therapeutic centers

    Clients that need 24-hour clinical care will be placed in one of the therapeutic centers, including the living groups and therapeutic center De Brug ('brug' means 'bridge').

  • Therapeutic center De Brug

    De Brug (‘the bridge') is a therapeutic center for clients who are able to live independently but still need some counseling.

  • General treatment program (44-56 weeks)

    De Hoop offers two different treatment programs for people with substance abuse problems who need 24-hour care. Here, you will find more information about the general treatment program.

  • Ambulatory treatment

    Some people do not need round-the-clock care or part-time treatment but they might only need a weekly counseling session with a psychologist.

  • Part-time treatment

    Part-time treatment takes place at weekdays. De Hoop offers a two and three version. Part-time treatment is intended for clients who live independently and have reached abstinence.

  • Post-clinical treatment

    Clients in clinical care at De Hoop are eligible for Post-clinical Treatment (PCT). Clients have their own living accommodation and run their own households.

  • 12-steps program (Challenge One, Two and Three)

    De Hoop offers a 12-steps program, which is divided into three parts (Challenge One, Two and Three). Here, you will find more information about our 12-steps program.

  • Stay Clean: self-help groups

    Stay Clean is a network of Christian self-help groups, set up by and for people with substance abuse problems.

  • Stay Clean: walk-in project

    Stay Clean's Walk-in Project is intended for people who are addicted and/or lack housing. The walk-in project wants to provide these people with a safe and warm place to stay.

  • Horeb community

    Horeb is a Christian community in Beekbergen. It is part of De Hoop. On its premises, about one hundred men and women receive help for substance abuse or psychosocial problems.

  • Refaja (Rotterdam)

    Because many of De Hoop's clients are from Rotterdam the decision was made to establish a Christian addiction care facility (Refaja) in Rotterdam.

  • Parent/partner work

    De Hoop's parent/partner work offers treatment for partners and relatives of (former) addicts.

  • Work experience & education

    Gaining work experience combined with following relevant education is an important part of De Hoop's clinical treatment offer.

  • Visiting clients

    After clients have been admitted for two weeks, they are allowed to receive visitors.
