About De Hoop

General treatment program (44-56 weeks)

De Hoop offers two different treatment programs for people with substance abuse problems who need 24-hour care:

  • A general program of 44-56 weeks
  • A short program based on a 12-steps approach and self-help groups

Here, you will find more information about the general treatment program.

Aim
The general treatment program's aim is:

  • Complete abstinence
  • Breaking with addictive behavior. Clients learn how to break with addictive patterns of behavior and develop new patterns of behavior.

During the program, clients receive help in making choices on treatment and social rehabilitation. With this, work and education play an important role.

Christian identity
De Hoop's 12-steps program is based on our Christian identity. De Hoop regards each human being as a unique person, created to live in harmony with God, God's creation and fellow human beings. God has a purpose for everybody. Based on God's Word, we believe that complete recovery is possible. This Christian view is derived from De Hoop's main mission: helping people on their way to a new life. The 12-steps program is specifically Christian and all parts of the program are obligatory.

Eligibility
Clients are eligible for treatment if they are:

  • 18 years of age and over
  • Struggling with an addiction problem.

De Hoop will refer people to another program if they have:

  • Predominant psychiatric problems
  • An aversion against De Hoop's Christian identity.

Please note that De Hoop looks at each situation individually in order to decide whether De Hoop is able to provide the care necessary or whether De Hoop has to refer the client to another institution or clinic.

Program contents
Our clinical treatment program consists of several components:

  • Basic program ‘Breaking with addiction'
  • In-depth program A
  • In-depth program B

Our treatment program is based on modern scientific research. It mostly consists of group training sessions and individual therapy. Training sessions and individual therapy are enhanced by the use of workbooks and e-learning. E-learning is a modern computer-based way of learning. Important aspects are: development of self-insights, gaining knowledge about addiction, addictive substances and the consequences of using these substances.

During the treatment program, clients will be advised on:

  • Supplementary treatment
  • Social rehabilitation and work experience
