Therapeutic center De Brug

De Brug (‘the bridge') is a therapeutic center for clients who are able to live independently but still need some counseling. Clients must have their own housing. De Brug is intended for people who are addicted to both licit and illicit drugs, alcohol or the Internet. People with psychosocial problems may also be admitted. Clients must be able to bear a certain degree of responsibility and take care of themselves. In addition, they must be gaining work experience at one of De Hoop's businesses or departments.

Aim
Aim of treatment at De Brug is to break with patterns of addiction, learn how to live independently and social rehabilitation.

View
De Brug offers treatment from a Christian view on man, addiction and addictive substances. This Christian view is derived from De Hoop's main mission: helping people start a new life. Being or becoming a Christian, however, is not a condition for receiving treatment.

  • Are able to handle a certain degree of responsibility
  • Spend at least 32 hours per week in a meaningful way by means of gaining work experience, following a training course and/or studying.
  • Are able to take care of themselves
  • Are able to postpone a request for help until a counseling session is held.

De Hoop will refer people to another program if they:

  • Do not meet the demands mentioned above
  • Have predominant psychiatric problems.

Please note that De Hoop looks at each situation individually in order to decide whether De Hoop is able to provide the care necessary or whether De Hoop has to refer the client to another institution or clinic.

De Brug's treatment program consists of several components, including:

  • Individual counseling sessions
  • Training sessions
  • Consultation hours
  • Working experience and study - clients from De Brug work at one of De Hoop's departments or businesses for about 35 hours per week.
